Which compression level should I choose?
Start with Recommended for a balance of size and image quality. Extreme makes images smaller and may soften fine details. Less keeps more image detail. Check the result and try another level whenever you need to.
Will my text stay selectable?
Yes. We optimize supported embedded images and the PDF’s internal storage without turning pages into pictures. Existing text, page sizes, links, and form fields are retained. Text that was already part of a scanned image stays an image.
Why didn’t my PDF get smaller?
Text-only PDFs and already compressed documents may have little to reduce. Images with transparency, special color spaces, or unsupported encodings are kept as they are. If the result would be larger, we offer your original instead. Compression cannot guarantee a particular file size.
Which PDFs can I compress?
Choose one PDF up to 100 MiB and 300 pages. Password-protected PDFs and XFA forms are unsupported; use an unlocked, flat copy. Very large embedded images are left unchanged to limit memory use. Digital signature verification is not preserved when a PDF changes, so keep the original signed document.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Compression and previews happen in your browser. Your original file stays unchanged. Compression does not remove document metadata or sanitize its contents. Read our privacy policy.
